Cold Pressed Coffee

I am a coffee drinker. It is a ritual I plan to enjoy for all my days. I enjoy the routine of it, the taste of it, and the alertness it provides to the start of my always busy days. I am a long time veteran of the French Press, but prior to meeting Stewart, I had never even considered the idea of “Cold Pressed Coffee”. Well, I have been enlightened to say the least!

What is Cold-Pressed Coffee? Not to be confused with Iced-coffee, Cold Pressed Coffee, is the process of brewing coffee over time in cold temperatures resulting in healthier, tastier brews. Iced Coffee is simply putting traditionally hot brewed coffee over ice, or in the refrigerator, resulting in watered down, sugar and cream needing, cold, well, coffee.

Look at all the Amazing benefits Cold Pressed Coffee provides:

  • Taste enhancing: Brewing coffee at hot temperatures releases the oils found within coffee.  These oils contain the acidic compounds that not only increases the acidity of cold brewed coffee but also contribute to the infamous bitter taste of coffee. Furthermore, the acidic oils actually alter our tatse buds, by decreasing their perception to the other unique flavors found within coffees. These oils are insoluble at lower temperatures, and thus do not have the same affect on cold brewed coffee
  • Its alkaline: Cold pressed coffee is 67% less acidic than hot-pressed coffee. WOW!
    • From a dental standpoint, the reduced acidity in the oral environment reduces the risk of cavity development. Also, with the less acidic nature of cold brewed coffee, it is less bitter, and our taste buds get to enjoy more of the varying natural flavors coffee can provide (chocolate, fruit, nuts etc…). This reduces the need to add sugars or dairy to enhance flavor, which in turn also greatly aids in cavity prevention and improved oral (and overall) health.
    • From a health and wellness standpoint, ingestion of alkaline liquids (in this case, an alkaline coffee) is suggested to house a plethora of benefits:
      • Promotes gastro-Intestinal health
      • Metabolism Support via the neutralization of acids in the blood stream, which can lead to increased oxygen levels, thus increasing energy and in turn metabolism.
      • Detoxification and Anti-oxidant properties. This can even be extended into being called anti-inflamatory, anti-anging, or anti-disease.
      • Apetite reduction
      • Immune support via enhancing Intrinsic Probiotic support
      • The studies are limited but the proposed benefits are exciting!
  • Its great to use in cooking (baking, marinades etc…) as you don’t have to worry about the acidity affecting flavor. The cold brewed coffee adds many options for enhancing flavor to a variety of dishes and sweets!
  • Its so easy!! (as long as you have time-while you sleep-and a fridge!!)
    • Simply choose your favorite coffee (we suggest an Organic coffee to ensure no addition of pesticides or chemicals into the cold brewing process), place in a french press, fill with water, place in the refrigerator for 10-12 hours, press and enjoy!!
